Harry Potter was an ordinary boy. He was part of an ordinary family with his Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon and Cousin Dudley. This is until letters begin to arrive at the house addressed to Harry in his cupboard under the stairs. The family try to outrun the letters until Harry is picked up by Hagrid, Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts. From there, Harry explores a part of the world he lives which is much less ordinary. Harry enters the World of Wizardry.
I really enjoy that this book immerses you into the Wizarding world from the start with Dumbledore, McGonagall and Hagrid but then you learn as Harry learns and explores moving forwards. Ron is there to be your right hand man and guide to a world that is brand new to you. Hermione is a know it all who is quick thinking and can change a plan within moments. Draco shows the prejudices and old world views to support setting up themes and elements for the rest of the story.
